ABOUT THE 82ND AIRBORNE DIVISION ASSOCIATION

The 82nd Airborne Division Association, Inc. (hereafter “National”), was Incorporated in the State of Illinois, 25 March 1946 and CHARTERED by the United States Congress on 05 November 1990.

The Association LOGO Certificate of Registration was approved 23 October 1990 and the Corporation Transferred to the State of North Carolina on 22 July 2004.

The 82nd Airborne Division Association, Inc. is exempt from Federal Income Tax, under Section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service, with

Employer Identification Number (EIN)/Federal Tax Identification Number 20-3991536.

ABOUT OUR CHAPTER

The Andrews-Bostick-Grimes Central Texas (hereafter “CenTex”) “All-Airborne” Chapter, 82nd Airborne Division Association, Inc. (hereafter “the Chapter”) was chartered on 17 Oct 2022, and is located in Killeen, Texas.

Our members are located throughout all of Central Texas, and we have Little Groups Of Paratroopers (LGOPs) in the following locations:

Greater Austin Area (GAA), primarily in the North
San Antonio
Hill Country
Waco

The Chapter is a social welfare organization, exempt from Federal Income Tax under Section 501 (C) (4) of the Internal Revenue Service, with

Employer Identification Number (EIN)/Federal Tax Identification Number 88-4287380.

CHAPTER OBJECTIVES

1 – To establish an organization that will further develop the common bond existing between all Airborne School graduates, especially those Paratroopers who served on jump status with the 82nd Airborne Division and other US and Allied military Airborne units.

2 – To perpetuate the memory of Airborne Troopers who have died in the service of their country, especially those troopers from the CenTex area.

3 – To be of assistance and service to:

- CenTex Airborne Veterans in matters pertaining to Veterans’ benefits.

- Military and civilian personnel in CenTex, especially ROTC and Junior ROTC Cadets who are interested in attending Airborne School or learning about Airborne history.

- Active/Reserve Component Airborne units in CenTex, regardless of service branch.

4 – To help maintain the high standards and morale of the Airborne Trooper. 

CHAPTER NAME

With permission of the surviving family members, the Chapter is named for, and dedicated to the memory of, three fallen Paratroopers from Central Texas:

1.  2LT Darryn Deen ANDREWS, US Army, from Cameron, Texas and a graduate of both Texas Tech University and Texas State University. Killed in action on 04 Sep 2009 in Afghanistan while serving as a Platoon Leader with 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne). Posthumously awarded the Silver Star and the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor. Basic Parachutist and Combat Infantryman with prior enlisted combat service in the 82nd Airborne Division.

2.  MAJ Thomas Gordon BOSTICK, Jr., US Army, from Llano, Texas. Killed in action on 27 July 2007 in Afghanistan while serving as Commander of Bulldog Troop, Company B, 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. Posthumously awarded the Silver Star, upgraded to the Distinguished Service Cross on 01 Mar 2019. Master Parachutist (Combat Star) and Combat Infantryman with prior enlisted combat service with the 2nd Ranger Battalion, including the combat jump into Panama during Operation JUST CAUSE.

3.  Col Keith R. GRIMES, US Air Force, from Austin, Texas and a University of Texas graduate. Killed in an aircraft crash on 14 Sep 1977 during Joint training along with members of the 1st Special Operations Wing and the 1st & 2nd Ranger Battalions, while serving as the Military Airlift Command’s Director of Special Environmental Technical Plans. Master Parachutist with Special Operations combat service in Laos and the Dominican Republic. Awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct as one of the main planners for the Son Tay Raid.
